Saba Sümer
Graduated from Sainte Pulcherie Secondary School and Saint Benoit French High School, Saba Sümer attended Bosphorus University Faculty of Education Physics Department for two years. Then she moved to Bodrum and established the Sunday Blue Cruise & Yacht Tourism Management. After 12 years of living at sea, she moved back to Istanbul and started working at the Borusan Culture and Art Center in 2001. Since its establishment, she has served as the Orchestras Manager and Assistant General Music Director of Borusan Istanbul Philharmonic Orchestra, Borusan Chamber Orchestra, Borusan String Quartet and Borusan Boruları Jazz Ensembles.
During this period, besides the BIFO’s concerts in Istanbul on both sides, the European and Anatolian and the Southeastern Anatolian Tour in 2003, among the important international festivals and halls there are Borusan Chamber Orchestra Xenakis Concert, Benaki Museum, Athens-2003; BIPO Megaron Concert, Athens – 2004; BIFO TUSIAD Turkey-Europe Week Concert, Brussels – 2006; BIFO Salzburg Classical Music Festival Opening Concert, Austria – 2010; Borusan Chamber Orchestra Montpellier Festival France – 2011; Borusan Quartet Tokyo, Shimonoseki – Japan Tour – 2014; BIFO “Oriental Promise” Royal Albert Hall – London – 2014.
After Borusan Art, in 2014 she founded OdeonArts Music and Communication, where she has undertaken the management and representation of classical music and jazz artists, including the Borusan Quartet, the leading ensemble of classical music, and Emin Fındıkoğlu, the doyen of jazz music in Turkey.
She has been working as the Art Director of Yeldeğirmeni Art Center, which is located in the historical building that Kadıköy Municipality transformed into an art center, as well as OdeonArts Music, since 2020.
Saba Sümer, mother of one daughter, is a member of the GS Sports Club Council and an Honorary Board Member of the International Notre Dame de Sion Piano Competition.
She continues to Istanbul University Distance Education Second University Program, Radio, Television and Cinema Department.
Saba Sümer became a member of PWN Istanbul in 2017. She led the PWN Istanbul Events Working Group between 2018 and 2022 at PWN Istanbul. She has been a Member of the Board of Directors responsible for events since 2022.
